Research and Development in Marine Control Engineering (2009)

Marine Control Engineering (MCE) is a new research area of the Australian Maritime College. Marine control engineering is an engineering discipline that applies modern control theories in marine and offshore systems. The AMC with the state of the art experimental facilities has a great potential to do research and consultation services in the area of marine control engineering. Maritime Engineering Department staff undertake extensive MCE research programs in close collaboration with structural engineering group, ship and platform hydrodynamics group, the hydrodynamics facility teams and the Australian Maritime Hydrodynamics Research Centre (AMHRC). International collaborations with a range of organizations including the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (Marine Cybernetics Department), Tokyo University of Marine Science and Technology and Mitsui Zosen Akishima Laboratory Inc. (belonging to Mitsui Engineering and Shipbuilding Inc.) are a major strength of the research. Financial support is probably provided by some organizations, especially the Australia Research Council (ARC).
