Rowella Drama Club History

The RDC came into being in 1947.

2008: The RDC was invited to stage a reenactment of the first Beaconsfield council meeting to celebrate the centennary of that event.

2006: We were invited to entertain the 'Medical History Symposium' held at Launceston General Hospital. Madeline Colam researched, wrote and directed a piece especially fro this titled 'A Bawdy Business', exploring the fine line between early hospitals and bawdy houses in the colony.

2005: We performed a couple of murder mysteries aboard the Don River Railway trips to Georgetown.

2004: We were honored by the attendance of Kerry Finch, MLC, Barry Easther, West Tamar Mayor and Max Burr. Kerry's web page has several photos of us.

Councilor Vivienne Lambert is highly supportive in a number of ways, not least of all is the preparation of the supper.

We were fortunate to be supported to the tune of $2500 by the West Tamar Council through their 'Community Grant' Program.

This grant met the cost of 4 new stage lights, bars to hang them on and black stage curtaining.

2003: Extensions to the Rowella Hall extended to stage and supplied indoor toilets and another dressing room.
